May 20 is considered a very romantic date in China because the Chinese pronunciations of the numbers “five,” “two,” and “zero” sound similar to the characters “我” (I), “愛” (love), and “你” (you), which together mean “I love you” in English.
On this special day, ten couples tied the knot during a collective wedding at the picturesque Enshang Wetland, one of the most beautiful marriage registration sites in Yantian District. The brides in their beautiful wedding dresses and grooms in their sharp suits walked slowly into the wedding venue.
"We are so grateful to the organizers for giving us such a unique memory. Holding hands with the one we love amidst Yantian's beautiful landscapes is an unforgettable experience," shared newlyweds Wu Siyu and He Wei with sweet joy. They also revealed that they would begin their honeymoon in Yantian.
The event, themed "Yantian's Love, Happiness for Life," was organized by the Yantian Civil Affairs Bureau and the Yantian Women's Federation, and hosted by the Yantian District Marriage Registration Center.
Currently, Yantian is leveraging its natural mountain and sea resources to vigorously develop the wedding industry, aiming to become a world-renowned wedding destination. It has established wedding venues in areas such as Dameisha and OCT East with locations including castles, lakesides, lawns, and villas.
Integrating local customs such as the boat-dweller culture, Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Dance, and the 500-year-old banyan tree, Yantian has created beautiful wedding photography spots and routes in locations like Enshang Wetland, Yunhai Park, and the seaside boardwalk, building a comprehensive wedding service system. Holding wedding ceremonies in Yantian has become the choice of many couples.
Yantian's wedding industry has seen significant growth. Companies like Baitai Xifu Jewelry have actively sponsored the collective wedding by preparing customized jewelry and eVTOL flight vouchers for the newlyweds, adding more novelty and romance to the ceremony.
To handle the peak marriage registrations on May 20, the Yantian District Marriage Registration Office prepared emergency plans to meet the demand as much as possible. They adjusted appointment volumes according to the situation on-site, staggered registrations, provided pre-review of materials, added more service windows, and extended service hours.
On May 20, a total of 87 couples registered their marriages in Yantian.
