China Railway Guangzhou Group estimates that it will handle 127 million passenger trips during the two-month summer transport season starting on July 1, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year, totaling 6.04 million more trips.

The operator notes that the summer travel passenger flow mainly consists of students, tourists, and family visits. Student and tourist traffic is concentrated in major cities, as well as in scenic areas. Overall, the passenger flow during summer travel is relatively balanced, peaking in mid to late July and again in mid to late August.

To accommodate the summer travel rush, the operator plans to introduce 116 additional temporary passenger trains daily, including 78 high-speed and 38 conventional trains. Specifically during peak traffic periods on Fridays and Sundays, night-time high-speed trains will be added.

In anticipation of sustained passenger flow during the summer travel rush, Guangzhou South Station will adjust ticket verification, security checks, and ticket inspection channels based on passenger volumes. The station will establish “emergency passenger channels” to facilitate quick boarding for passengers arriving within 15 minutes of departure.
