On Sept. 26, Yantian District hosted the opening ceremony of the “Shared Heritage, Deep-Rooted Connections” Intangible Cultural Heritage Community Exchange Series at the Yantian Administrative and Cultural Center Square. The event also marked the launch of the 14th Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Dance Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Series, offering a platform to highlight the region’s rich cultural traditions and innovations.
A key highlight was the unveiling of the Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Dance Intangible Cultural Heritage IP and the “Magical Journey Through Time” Chung Ying Street Patriotic Science Project, showcasing efforts to preserve and modernize traditional culture. The initiative aims to honor historical practices while exploring innovative ways to integrate them into the cultural and creative industries.
Cultural heritage inheritors from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Dongyuan County gathered to present a series of captivating performances and exhibitions. From intricate paper-cutting art and lifelike fish lantern crafting to melodic folk music and historic long robe tailoring techniques, the event offered visitors an immersive experience of Yantian’s cultural legacy.
Innovation was a central theme, with modern technology playing a key role in reimagining traditional crafts. One standout project, Yu Tuo Smart Printing, utilizes intelligent devices, 3D printing, and reverse scanning to precisely capture fish forms. These techniques, combined with creative expressions such as cultural blind boxes, breathe new life into the preservation and evolution of Tanka culture, ensuring its relevance for future generations.
This event reflects Yantian’s commitment to blending tradition with modernity, positioning the district as a leader in preserving and innovating intangible cultural heritage. Through such initiatives, Yantian aims to inspire wider appreciation and engagement with these cultural treasures while fostering their sustainable development.
