The eagerly awaited Xiaomeisha Sea World is set to begin trial runs Oct.1 following a five-year renovation, according to the company responsible for transforming the Xiaomeisha area.
The renovated Xiaomeisha Sea World in Yantian District covers 60,200 square meters, with a total construction area of 132,000 square meters and a water volume of 40,000 cubic meters. It has five main zones, including Polar World, the Tropical Pavilion, the Dolphin and Whale Pavilion, the Sea Lion Pavilion, and an exhibition hall.
In Polar World, visitors can view animals from the Arctic and Antarctic, including polar bears, beluga whales, penguins, arctic wolves, and walruses. On the other hand, the Tropical Pavilion features sharks, jellyfish, and a lush mangrove ecosystem. One of the park’s standout features is its exhibition hall, which is home to the world’s largest acrylic cylinder tank, teeming with tens of thousands of sardines and various deep-sea fish species.
The park will also offer visitors a wide variety of attractions, with its awe-inspiring marine animal displays as the centerpiece. Visitors can look forward to state-of-the-art performances and interactive multimedia science exhibits that are both entertaining and educational.
The then 20-year-old park was closed in December 2019 and its renovation was designed by first-class Japanese architectural firm AXS Satow Inc.
