Yantian successfully conducted the first test flight of its electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) on Nov. 30, 2023 as part of the Shenzhen Low-Altitude Integrated Flight Demonstration Zone project. The test took place at the Dameisha Coastal Bus Terminal.
During the event, Houwei Huasheng Co. Ltd. showcased its EH216-S model, a pilotless passenger eVTOL, in the demonstration flight. This aircraft has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), making it the world’s first eVTOL to receive airworthiness approval. According to Sun Cong, general manager of Houwei Huasheng Co. Ltd., the company plans to partner with Yantian to create unique low-altitude tourism experiences.
“This includes routine eVTOL operations connecting scenic spots, offering air tourism services that make travel faster and more convenient. The goal is to develop China’s first low-altitude industry demonstration zone, promoting innovation and growth in Yantian’s aviation sector,” said Sun.
