The Meisha Marine Library, a branch of the Dapeng Marine Library, opened to the public on Saturday, International Children’s Day, in Yantian District. This new library is a gift for kids who love ocean-themed knowledge and stories.

Situated in Biosphere 3 of the Carbon Neutral Park at the Dameisha Vanke Center, the library boasts a collection of over 5,000 books covering a wide range of ocean-related topics. These include marine biology, ocean economics, oceanography, maritime culture, history, and conservation.
At the opening ceremony, the library’s director, Shen Xiaoming, unveiled three key projects. “The first project involves building a visual database of marine creatures from the Greater Bay Area by collecting videos of ocean species filmed by both professionals and amateurs,” Shen explained.
“The other two projects will offer a series of ocean education courses for public school students and launch a white paper on sustainable seafood consumption for the local food and beverage industry and diners,” he added.
In addition to being a treasure trove of knowledge, the library also functions as a small museum, displaying ancient nautical charts and marine life specimens that bring the books’ content to life.
Established in 2019, the Dapeng Marine Library has branches in both Yantian and Longgang districts. It serves as a public service center dedicated to providing citizens with a wealth of ocean-related knowledge and resources.
