Conference held in Yantian to discuss low-altitude technology applied in varied scenarios

From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated:2024-06-29

The 2024 Low-Altitude Economy Multi-Scenario Application Innovation Conference occurred in Yantian on June 29. The event brought together academic experts and leading entrepreneurs in the low-altitude economy field to discuss innovative ways to build a comprehensive unmanned application system that integrates various scenarios, including sea, land, air, mountains, lakes, forests, and urban environments. This initiative aims to create a distinctive low-altitude economic ecosystem in Yantian, driving high-quality development in Shenzhen's low-altitude economy industry.

The expert presentations at the conference were highly engaging. Shu Zhenjie, the chief expert of the China Aeronautical Research Institute and Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, delivered a report titled "Advancing the Comprehensive Unmanned System." Zhang Ju'en, honorary vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, gave a speech on "Entering the New Era of the Low-Altitude Economy."

Shi Jingmin, deputy director of the Science and Technology Consulting Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, provided an analysis of "Low-Altitude Economy and Civil Drone Management Policies and Regulations."

Jin Wei, director of Low-Altitude Economy Research at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Center for Equipment Industry Development, shared insights on "The Current State and Trends of the Low-Altitude Industry."

"The comprehensive unmanned system covers the three major fields of sea, land, and air, involving drones, unmanned vehicles, and unmanned ships. Implementing these applications requires abundant water and airspace resources, which Yantian is well-positioned to provide," Shu explained during his report. He emphasized that Yantian’s unique geographic advantages give it a significant edge in building a comprehensive unmanned system. Shenzhen’s leadership in the low-altitude economy at both national and international levels provides a strong foundation for Yantian’s further development in this sector.

During the roundtable discussion, experts and scholars from institutions such as the Beijing Institute of Technology (Zhuhai Campus), Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Northwestern Polytechnical University Shenzhen Research Institute, and Sun Yat-sen University, along with representatives from the China Urban Economy Research Institute’s Low-Altitude Industry Development Research Center and Qingdao Yunjishi Information Technology Co. Ltd., explored how Yantian could achieve a leading position in the emerging low-altitude economy.

Earlier this year, in January, the world’s first eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) to receive an airworthiness certificate completed its maiden flight in Yantian, marking the start of regular flights. Guangdong Province’s second paragliding base and China’s first eVTOL industrial park were inaugurated in the second quarter. Yantian is also accelerating the construction of the Maluan Mountain Urban Low-Altitude Integration Flight Support Base, providing high-quality platforms for the launch and testing of new products, scenarios, and applications.
